Feeling Pretty Good - Primers

Post by Pitchman1968 » Fri May 05, 2023 4:47 pm

For at least the 50th time in the last 2 years, I called my local Cabelas this afternoon to ask if they had Large Pistol and Large Rifle primers in stock. I was shocked when the ammunition dept. manager said "Yes, I have both, but they will be gone in a couple of hours. I made the 19-mile drive to the store in record time. Although I would have chosen the Winchester brand for both primers, the store had CCI LR BR-2 primers and Remington #2 1/2 Large Pistol primers. Even though I have never used CCI or Remington primers, I bought a box of each. Tonight, I will be reloading .30-06 for my M! Garand and my "03 Springfield, tomorrow I'll load .44 Mag for my Henry BBB. Then, off to the range on Sunday!

I've used both and they all go "bang". Glad you got them!

Curious on the price you paid for them.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Hello BigAl52,

The Remington Large Pistol was $99.79 and the CCI Large Rifle BR-2 was $159.00. The Cabelas Reloading Dept. manager said this price was $40.00 more than CCI Large Rifle 200 primers would have been priced if he had them in stock. I had to rationalize this exorbitant price in my mind, and I did so by factoring in the HAZMAT and shipping fee which would have been about $40.00 if I had bought them on-line.
