Canada won't ship hazmat

Post by Oldbrass » Tue Mar 16, 2021 1:51 pm

Seems Canada is swimming in primers and powder but the U.S. can't touch it..perhaps a motorcycle ride up north this spring is in order !

I’m surprised there is any left. Must be more than a days ride. No matter what you ride.

Canada may have lots of primers and powder, but they also have strict Covid-19 restrictions. You can't get there from here if you are:
  • a US Citizen
  • not showing signs and symptoms consistent with COVID-19
  • coming from the United States
  • travelling for an optional reason (leisure, visits, weddings, upkeep of property, etc.
You will not be allowed to enter Canada, even if you have tested negative for COVID-19 or have received a COVID-19 vaccine.

The Canada-U.S. temporary border restriction implemented on March 21, 2020 continues. All discretionary/optional travel remains prohibited.

Percussion caps seem to be an issue, and factory rifle ammo is scarce I am told. Some 45 Colt around online here. Local hardware store has Unique powder and several IMR ones. Also Federal primers including large pistol. Have not checked much on reloading supplies as I'm good for awhile. Think lead might be getting hard to get too. Black powder is around but you have to pick it up because explosives cannot ship. That's the attraction of BP substitutes here, they can be bought online.

Hopefully the restrictions will ease up, 3 1/2 hours to the Surrey border crossing. That's the route I always took when I drove semi.. I have saddle bags on the bike.

LOL, yep, I actually found some IMR 4198 today, then noticed the Canada address. I thought, guess RR will get to keep it.
Not shipping to the US.

I rarely ever buy a rifle, but when I do, it's a Henry.
