Sizing die ruining brass

Post by Oldbrass » Fri Mar 05, 2021 2:43 pm

This is a LEE 9mm carbide sizing die. It just started gouging the heck out of the cases. I cleaned it out and tried scraping it with a knife blade but the carbide sleeve is actually damaged. My brass is always clean. I thought these lasted forever..

Hmmmm, hard to gouge carbide. Had to be something get in there. Think I'd give Lee a call or email, see what they say. Strange!
I've got the same die, haven't had an issue ( yet ).

I agree with Grunt and ol'pole, I'd contact Lee, I'm betting they will take care of it.

Try Lee maybe they will help you out. That seems to be your only option. It sure looks like something damaged the die. I'm not sure how since carbide is tought stuff.

I agree about contacting Lee. Their CS is very responsive and they back up their products. Give them a call.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......
