Saw a picture of him in his Class A's accompanying the blurb of his "retirement" Man does that soldier have a lot "salad" on his chest. I see his jump wings, ranger badge, maybe a purple heart, and various theater ribbons. But the best of all he's got an "electric strawberry " patch on his pocket. Yea the 25th!!!!!!!! :D :D

Hadn’t heard of the electric strawberry until now. Had to look it up interesting patch. Some military badge design are self explanatory. Others make me scratch my head and wonder. Was alcohol involved?

Wear the "electric strawberry " on my Retired Army cap every day.
My chest is no where near as full as his, tho. LOL.
Have to admit. I had forgot about him. I'll say no more.

It’s unfortunate that even the military is taking sides.

Guys, as JEBar mentioned, let's keep this one as non- political as possible. So far, we're doing good. And I thank you all for understanding.

I have served with officers who definitely earned every ribbon and medal they wore. And others who were there because someone wrote orders so they could add to the resume.
Oddly enough many of the enlisted I served with who had a chest full of well deserved medals were reluctant to show them off.

FYI, The " electric strawberry" is the nickname of the division badge for the 25th Division which I served with in Viet Nam. The division main base is in Hawaii. It is or was the only Army Div. based in the tropics. The division badge is a stylized taro leaf which is grown in Hawaii and has many uses. The lightning bold thru it meant they were the first strike in the pacific for the army. At that time there was no disrespect in the name intended . Many Army units had nicknames unit patches. One of my favorites was the 101st Airborne Div. patch, which I also served in. The patch has an American eagle on it. A very ugly eagle at that time. Nickname...The Puking Buzzard. And remember folks, this is just fun info and pride on my part on the units I served in. :)
