1965 and 1970 would be two favorites for FUN years.
In summer of 1965 I was still enjoying my Schwinn Sting Ray bike I had gotten that previous Christmas. Used to love doing a burnout on the
concrete patio with that wide slick on the back but Dad didn't like it much! Sitting in the shade on a hot summer day reading newest Hot Rod,Car Craft or Super/Stock magazine and building models of the cars in the magazines!
The whole area around was full of hot cars running around the neighborhood especially the neighbors a street over that bought a new 1965 Pontiac
GTO convert. Fun times and 25 cent High's Ice Cream store milkshakes!

Then 1970...I get my drivers license and my brother 4yrs. older bought his new 1970 Hemicuda….VERY FUN summer that was!!!

Good days indeed. My dream has a Honda scooter. Dad beat that with a Honda 90 street bike. I rode my ass off. What freedom!

Had a lot of great years in the mid to late 60's and early '70's. Although my heart went out to those serving in Viet Nam at the same time, the summer of '69 was my favorite. Cars, Music and Girls and a great part time job to keep my car going.

Man, you ain't kidding! Maybe for me it was also the late sixty's. Used to go the drag races in So-Cal with my Dad. A lot.
Worked a little bit on a funny car in '69-71; the Pisano Bros. funny car Camaro. Back him(Frank Pisano was the driver) after burn outs, little odd jobs till they got real, real good. Friggin' fun! Desert dirt bike racing in the 70's also. Dang, where does it all go?

Yup, about '69. Lived in NJ. My Dad worked in NYC.
A good friend of my parents used to take me to the drag strip in englishtown NJ almost every weekend in his Shelby.
Saw all the greats...Callita, Prudome, ( The Snake ) Garlits, ( Big Daddy ) etc, not to mention Shirly ( Cha-Cha ) Muldowny. Great memories and fun.
Dad was then transferred to Chicago in '70.

I remember that car in the magazines. Very cool job you had then!

We were family friends. The Pisano's owned "Venolia Pistons" in Long Beach, Ca., we lived in Lynwood and were very close at the time, to Lions Dragstrip, Irwindale Raceway and fairly close to Orange County Raceway. Before funnycars, the Pisano's ran a AA fuel altered car, then funny cars. When they first started out, shake down runs, engine testing etc, a couple of times they would let me help Frank back the car up after burn-outs. They showed me how to mix the fuel, but, Joe(owner) would do that during competition runs. I was pretty much a "go-for" for the crew. But, man, something I will never forget. Those guys had a very good run for several years.

In late 1971 my brother decided to "tune up" the 426 Street Hemi to Race Hemi specs. So we had a few deliveries from the
Sox&Martin shop down in North Carolina. Made for a wild street ride thru the drive-ins!
