What to do at home with the corona-crisis

Post by jkrijt » Sun Mar 29, 2020 10:30 am

In the Netherlands, we have to stay at home as much as possible because of the corona-crisis. All shooting ranges are closed :-(
I improvised a mini shooting range at home in the hallway to shoot with my 46 years old Diana air rifle. From the livingroom to the target in the hallway is about nine meters so now I can keep practicing a little bit anyway.

Many years ago I was divorced. I stayed single for 17 years until I met my present Wife, and learned to enjoy my solitary life very much. One thing I did was build a shooting range in my den. I had a cardboard box stuffed with old magazines and newspapers with a target drawn on it. I purchased some of those plastic bullets that only required a primer to fire. No powder. Lots of indoor fun.
So this young man who was a friend of mine wanted to learn to shoot. I taught him all the proper rules and stances and then let him shoot six rounds. HE MISSED THE DAMN BOX ALTOGETHER! I ended up with bullet holes through the glass of my french doors to the court yard. Oh well, I had a Nazi flag I just hung over the door. Looked OK.
Then my late Mother flew in for a visit. She took one look at the flag and ordered it taken down. Then she saw the bullet holes. Well, you guessed it, I was fixing windows for a while. Course then she got upset about the fridge only containing beer and black powder, and the dish washer not working. She also dusted off my bar top and I lost all my phone numbers I had written there.

Two weeks later everything was fixed or replaced and she flew back home.

And that's why I stayed single 17 years.

.
Went through the basement storage and decluttered, A LOT!
Painted the basement.
Putting up crown molding in the basement (ongoing).
Figured out what was wrong with my wife's desktop computer. Video card quit. Have another card on order.
Take a shower every once in a while. Same with shaving.
Spend more time here.

Not too affected here as most of my outside activities are generally a long distance from others.

I am however staying away from stores unless absolutely necessary.

Plenty to do around the home with yard work season here and also keep on top of things down at the range property.
Then other projects that come to mind keep the mind busy.

Mowing the yard today, doing laundry, just working out side on spring projects, and of course, spending some time at the "bench".
I'm single, also, so I do pretty much as I please, LOL.

I rarely ever buy a rifle, but when I do, it's a Henry.

But, won't your chaser of Lyme Disease miss that shot of Covid-19? ;)

Just kidding. I hope you avoid both, which are each every serious medical issues.

Business as usual here; chores, did some riding, picked up wife's breakfast from local drive-thru. Might reload later...we never did get many visitors anyway, so not much different. Stocked up on dry goods and groceries. All good.
