email from gunbroker.com

Post by Ernie » Fri Mar 27, 2020 5:29 pm

Got 3 emails from gun broker for free stuff, I WON, because I was a customer of theirs but I have not ordered anything from them. Same day got 2 emails from someone claiming to be Apple telling me my account was to be frozen if I did not re-register. Looked real but.....Scam, reported it to Apple and they acknowledged it to be phishing. So I was suspicious of the gun broker offer, anyone else get one?

I get them regularly. I delete them, unopened. Nothing is "free". At the very least, your information is collected and sold. Be careful out there.

Al, I have gotten several in the past year, I looked at a couple and there's always shipping charges on whatever the item is, and the few I did look at didn't interest me enough to coff the shipping fee.
So now I just automatically delete them.

We are getting slammed with these scam/phish emails and yesterday my wife discovered how we can block the sender on our apple products. Interestingly, we found out that when we blocked one sender sometimes several “other” senders blocked at the same time.

For Apple, open the email (not any links of course), click next to the senders name and you get a drop down that has an option to block contact. Do that and notice the “hand” that appears next to the sender in your inbox. You may see the hand appear in several other emails in you inbox. Then delete the email.

other email providers have a similar method for blocking senders. Right click on the sender and select 'block sender'.
