Old friend
After being gone for almost 4 years, I finally found my old friend. It's a SOG Grip Clip. I lost it mowing a steep section of my field, and obviously ran over it.
The story of this knife is this; I found the knife in 1998 while working on a collage campus dorm room during the summer. I was servicing a wall heater, and there it was. It was broke. The locking mechanism wasn't working. I sent it to SOG, and they repaired it, and sent it back no charge.
I carried that knife for 20 year's. Field dressed a buck with it 2000. When I lost it, I figured that's how it ought to be I reckon, since I found it in the 1st place. For the past 4 years I have looked for it, and today on that steep hill I found its remains. Finally I have closure of a long lost old friend.
RIP SOG

Good closure for an old friend.

Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.
Re: Old friend
Sorry for the loss Moetur. Wouldnt be surprised if you sent it back again they would send another.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Re: Old friend
You could send it back, tell them it's an old friend and ask if there is anything they could move to a new knife... Offering to pay for the new model. See what happens. I did that with a Luminox Seal Team Watch I had worn on duty, working patrol and running rescue, for a decade and a half. I thought perhaps they could put the face in a new watch, or could use the bezel. There was history there.
No, but they returned they old watch, which I still have, and sold me a new replacement at just over cost. It lasted another fifteen years.

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

Re: Old friend
In my post I called it a clip grip. I now remember it was an Auto clip. Fine knife.

I know how it nags at you when you can't find it. At least you have the closure. Why not send it back with the story and ask to buy a new one or the closest model, if you really liked it?

There must be something about that model. I used to carry my wife’s one of that same model. Lost it one day. Then I bought a replacement. Yep, that one disappeared too.

Re: Old friend
I liked the adjustable belt clip. It also sat way down in the pocket. They don't make it anymore. It was also pretty thin, with a super grip on it. Even with deer blood all over it, I was able to field dress a nice little forked horn. I'm not going to send it back.
I've got a bunch of other ones, but none of them have lived up to the standards of the SOG. It's actually an inexpensive one new.
Liked $30.00.
