I still remember him lighting John Denver's' 1975 CMA Award envelope on fire.

It wasn't a particularly bright move and largely in part ended his career in country music which was lackluster at best.

While a good singer he did not make the transition to the 70s era of country music as well as some others from the late 50s - 60s time frame.

Not as dramatic as Rich's torching of John Denver's award envelope but at the 2006 CMAs Faith Hill was 'Dramatically' shocked when Carrie Underwood was announced as the Female Entertainer Of The Year.

She looked like a little girl having a temper tantrum.

She as well suffered some career fallout because of this.
