We have done all we can do. Over the last few years, room by room, upgraded everything but the kitchen floor and cabinets, they were next on the list.

It is very humbling to look at your life being reduced down to some boxes and other stuff. Best of luck on the farm sale.

Re: Selling the Farm
What it is... Is Scary. We have been here, more than twenty five years. We are the original occupants, and moved in before there was a front deck, grass planted, the side porch had it's slab poured. The lot then was just 9.6 acres... and there were no outbuildings. We built the deck, poured the slab and covered the porch, planted the grass, built the first two barns... And landscaped. We added acreage as it came available. We upgraded the house as it came time to repair or replace. And we added the alarm system, cameras, whole house generator and the rest. We "know" what we have here, and every nuance.
If it sells and we move... It's a chance we take. But, we will try and better our odds.

Where are you moving to? I'm originally from Ohio, now living near Louisville, KY.BrokenolMarine wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2020 8:16 pmWe have dozens marked in several locations, but can't go look at any or consider making offers until our place is under contract and likely to close. We have watched a half dozen favorites sell... But there are a dozen nicd places out there and more appearing every day.fortyshooter wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2020 7:54 pmLast move for us was 1984 and don't plan on any future move...but you never know.
Like others have said hope the big move goes smooth and you enjoy your new place! Have you found your new ranch yet?
Ours will sell, or it won't, that's the key.

Another fellow here who has "been there, done that," Marine. Not the most fun adventure, but doable.BrokenolMarine wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 7:47 amWe don't know, we are looking at six or seven states.
After that last big move my wife and I made in 2012, I moved again last year, which is hopefully my last time. But as has been commented in this thread, one never knows. I must encourage you both, however, with something my wife always believed. She was in real estate for most of her work career, and said that "there is a buyer out there for every house/property." We saw that to be true. Your place, which is almost totally upgraded, will definitely sell. The only factor is timing. Plus acreage is a biggie no matter what state.
When we made our 2012 move from upper Midwest (southern WI), we only looked at three states. All had relatives living there, which was an important factor for us. Our final choice was MO, the Northland of KCMO. Great state, and we have a goodly number of family living in both KS and MO. So that was an excellent choice for us.
Only the best of everything to you and Miss Tina during and after your transition.
