Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

-40. That is ugly. I think that I dealt with -20 a time or two. As I get older though, I am looking to move to a warmer spot. I did like the southern part of Texas. But, we may end up some place with trees and mountains that is not too cool. Anyway, stay warm!

Re: Severe weather here
We had a storm move through overnight. Nice and sunny right now. There was a tornado warning issued last night for about 45 minutes but luckily nothing but a few downed twigs as evidence this morning.

Lost power early this AM for about 4 hrs. Don't know why. No weather to speak of. No coverage on the local news.

Re: Severe weather here
Strange winter this year. Had snow for Halloween and 52 degrees Friday. Rained hard enough for some flooding Friday night and snowed a bit Saturday. Today about 36 so snow melted, last year at this time it was -26 degrees for 3 days.
I am ready for a Michigan winter. Got the tractor and 2 back up snowblowers.

Re: Severe weather here
We wanted to go into the city today for our littlest grandsons birthday. His sixth. We have gale force winds right now with six inches of new powder snow. I suggested it was not a great idea today, but the DW is pretty stubborn and if I didn't go would just get into her VW and go alone, so we started out. We live in the woods so she had no idea.
The highway is a county one and was scrapped down to ice. No salt or sand. As soon as we left the shelter of trees the wind hit us. At one point it almost blew me sideways in our Explorer. Then we got up behind a semi going about twenty miles an hour. We watched apprehensively when the wind blew the trailer sideways. The driver got it straightened out. Going by the airport we got into a white out.
We had gone about seven miles when we got to the Interstate and it was running pretty well with salt and sand trucks out. By then though she had had enough and suggested we go back home. GOOD IDEA! Going back in the dark in a white out is not my idea of smart traveling.

Re: Severe weather here
I felt -10 one time here about 25 years ago.
It was un-believable for me. What an ordeal we had.
I can't even imagine -20, never mind -40.
Keep warm and safe out there y'all.

Re: Severe weather here
once again the weather in my wife's hometown of Estelline, SD where we spend our summers is really something .... -6 with a windchill of -31 as this is being typed .... per the Weather channel, "WIND CHILL ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON CST SUNDAY..Very cold wind chills. Wind chills as low as 35 below zero" .... NW 23 mph .... major stretches of I-90 & I-29 are closed .... we've been getting reports all day from friends and relatives who say its simply brutal
