Vaquero,

I didn't know you were a member over at the other site.

That was my post over there, lol.

I was just about to say something about it here.

You left out my line that "this should be the last nail in the coffin".

Most know me as an old, stubborn, long time hold-out. I have been sticking up for Nascar for well over the last 10 Years.

And now they have lost me...

There has been 3 big changes in Nascar in the last few weeks that should, in my opinion, chase away about 90% of their fan base.

First was banning the Confederate Flag from their fans.

Then there is the controversial Kneeling during the National Anthem, now allowed.

The third thing we cannot talk about on here, but is also an issue with most of the fan base.

I'll be anxiously waiting to see the stands wide open once again. As other than some "new" fans that may give them an initial boost, that will most likely wear off pretty quick, I believe we will see stands more empty than we've ever seen before.

If it happens like I predict, it will be the communication in reality from us to Nascar.

And good luck on trying to get us back.

for me, the jury is still out ... I can't remember when I wasn't a pro football fan but I haven't watched a regular season game in several years .... what I'm watching is the behavior of the crews and drivers .... how they react will determine if I continue to support the sport or not

I have been a NASCAR fan, since 1962. Saw a lot of changes, some good some not ( my opinion ).
I saw NASCAR allow Richard Petty drive a car that wasn't legal ( switched from the old squared off rear glass to the fast back. )
First issue I remember of kissing someones' butt because of who they are. Never been a Petty fan.
Thru the years, if one mfg. was losing regularly, NASCAR would make changes to help out ( if it won't run, park it ).
For the past several yrs. the have allowed the Network to limit their exposure to the fans. About half the races are on Sat. or cable,
which a lot of folks don't have, self included. This has caused me to lose the interest I once had. I'll still watch on my little antenna,
but I won't spend a dime to do it.
Now all this fiasco with Wallace, Confederate flag, kneeling, etc.. Well, you know the rest.
Enough of my rant. Thanks,
Larry

I have to say, as a forever Antenna owner, I can remember when we only got 5 Races a year on TV and I was happy with it. When it grew to about a high of 16, I was amazed. I'm still going to watch it, as long as my stomach can take it anyway, but will not support it either in any way, shape or form, directly or indirectly. I will give them that benefit of the doubt and time will tell if I even give up on that, like I did with the NBA.

Loved those old Larry Bird and Michael Jordan days, but now I won't even turn it on.

I was a Larry Bird fan back in the day. Boring now
NFL Cowboy fan, but it's going the way of NASCAR. Quickly
running out of options.
Still got high school football,.......so far.

Believe or not, I have been liking Pro Golf in the last few years, also somewhat of a Tennis fan, but nothing close to a (former?) Nascar fan. But my biggest hope now is local Stock Car Racing. My local track is non-Nascar and promoted by Moonshine Capital. That name may speak for itself, lol. It is located in the former "Moonshine Capital of the World" in Franklin County, VA. I have been in contact with them and there is some high hopes on expansion and possible local TV coverage.

Would love to see an organized non-Nascar local circuit with other small tracks in the South. Wouldn't that be something if we could replace Nascar. Imagine luring drivers over from the big league. I know one truck driver that would be ready now.

Local stock car racing made what NASCAR became, not what it is now. Maybe it'll go full cycle & go back to its roots.
As long as the sponsors put up with it, it won't change. Sponsors spend their money for positive exposure. No sponsors, no NASCAR. Right now, I think they're pushing their luck. JMHO
