How's the rehab going, getting closer to getting on that Triumph?

I saw my surgeon yesterday and they are finally able to start doing elective surgerys again. Going in Monday after next with likely just one night in the hospital. I do have to go to the drive-thru Covid testing place next Thursday and then self-quarantine until I check-in. My surgery is not as invasive as your hip replacement so will only have to take it easy for a couple of weeks.

They say the increased blood flow to my legs will really help with my leg pain. Right now if I walk more than a few hundred yards, especially on un-even ground my calves are burning.

Evan, glad to see you're on the mend. Very good. As has been said, just take it easy and work your way back into things.

Yesterday was the one month mark (May 4th ---> June 4th), and it's been amazing how swiftly and smoothly the recovery has gone. I had a bit of a speed bump when I got aggressive very early on and tweaked my ITB (Illeo-Tibial Band - probably butchered the spelling), but even that was under control within a week.

At this point, I'm basically cane-free and pain-free, so the remaining two weeks of PT will focus on increasing strength, flexibility and endurance in the repaired leg, getting my lower back more used to an even distribution of the "load" between both legs, and continuing to re-build my core muscles.

So, Yes, the Triumph will see its first ride soon, if not this weekend, certainly next weekend!

I see that Esquared name at the bottom of the home page so I know hes been on here. Silence is golden they say but Im gonna force you to break that and give us an update. Hey Evan how you doin over there has that Triumph seen some road time yet. How you gettin along.

So sorry, FRIENDS(!), I've been around (as Al noted above), and I even popped on and kept the conversation going about our KC gathering next month, but otherwise, it's been a pretty busy few weeks.

Happy to report back in and share some stories.

First, I guess I'm all but healed from this surgery business. Dr Sawbones cleared me of all restrictions as of about 6 weeks post-op (June 17, if I recall), with the exception of "No long distance running." Not to worry, was my response. My 10K and Half marathon days are long since over. It was that same week that I wrapped up physical therapy, so that all worked out, timing-wise. Everyone (Doc, PTherapist, ME) was very happy with the progress, the speed of the progress and the return to normalcy. Totally pain-free and ready to ride!

So, once the Doc cleared me (not before: my kids wouldn't have let me hear the end of it!), it was on to initiating the TRIUMPH. Headed out on a nice Sunday morning (6/21, I think) for some back roads exploring. And, to borrow an old phrase, it was just like riding a bike. It all came back like life's other pleasant memories. The clutch and gearbox on this Bonnie are like honey and butter, so it was easy to get back in the groove. Just so much fun being back out and sensing all that motorcycling brings, from the sounds to the smells of summer back-roads (if you know what I mean).

Have been back out every Sunday, since, including today's 2 hour + ride. Have added some trim bits and pieces to the bike, including this week's teardrop mirrors. Have looked over and over at the turn signals (front and rear), and I think they're just fine. See so many guys swapping in the "low profile/Euro" parts, but this wears the vintage look quite well, I'd say.

Anyway, glad to be back among you and will be around more often, I promise. And, even if I'm not jumping into every thread, please know that I'm still lurking somewhere, just keeping up on what's going on here. [BTW, can someone please rotate this pic for me?]

Oh, and got called back into the Parks and Rec world (community center front desk cat-herder), but only 3 afternoons per week. Tues, Wed and Friday, Noon to 5:00 I can handle.
