I have had a Blackhawk .45 with the extra .45 A.C.P. cylinder for about 35 years. I shoot mostly .45 Colt ammo in it . There are a few reasons for this. First I have been loading my own ammo since 1969 so the price per shot is not a concern . Second is the fact that when shooting the A.C.P. rounds , there is a big jump in the cylinder before the bullet engages the rifling. Third almost all .45 auto ammo is loaded with jacketed bullets that can cause more wear on the barrel than lead slugs.

Third almost all .45 auto ammo is loaded with jacketed bullets that can cause more wear on the barrel than lead slugs.
Gilding metal (which is used to make the jackets for jacketed bullets) is 95% copper and 5% zinc - basically a low grade brass.
It has been hypothesized jacketed will wear a barrel faster than lead but the wear will be negligible and would take a number of rounds far beyond what the average person shoots for wear to become a problem.
There are other factors that contribute to barrel wear probably more than just jacketed bullets.
Flame cutting from extremely high velocity ammo and improper or too frequent cleaning are just a couple.
There are also cases of people damaging barrels due to harsh lead removal techniques.

I have an old army .45 colt revolver inherited from my grandfather so I purchased the big boy in .45 colt. Both are fun to shoot. Over the last 12 months I've also purchased two .22's, a .44 black powder revolver, a12 ga pump with two barrels and an a-bolt 7mm rem mag. I have my eyes on a Ruger Blackhawk.

Way to go, High-Five.
What model BP revolver?
I have a pair of 1851's, a 1858, and 1860.
Replicas of course. ;)

It's an 1858 new model navy. I've had it for a while and haven't even fired it. I'll get it cleaned up and loaded someday. We have two that are antique which we don't shoot.
