I've been thinking about this one 'Rock Island M 1911 GI Standard Pistol'.
Lots of good things said about the RIA line of pistols - and I am planning on one eventually in 9mm but it will be the 'Rock' version with all the goodies including adjustable sights.

I've looked them over at my LGS and great fit, smooth with a good trigger. The finish is obviously where they cut corners but it is not bad for a basic parkerizing. I don't think a better gun can be had in it's price range and they are better than they SHOULD be for the price!
I have one of those, yes they have a nice trigger and shoot well. Never had an issue, it's my Winter carry\truck gun.
For the price they are hard to beat.

.
That was the sense I got too from reading reviews and watching a Hickok45 video on it. About the only negative I remember reading about was NOOB jams, that it takes 50 rounds or so to break it in before it doesn't do that anymore.

It does qualify as a true Frankengun. At least it shoots. I'd bet he's even sold a couple of them. A lot of collectors look for oddball stuff like this. :)

I looked at the Rock Islands before I got the Springfield. The nicer machining, better trigger, and match grade barrel tipped me toward the Springfield. Of course, I snagged mine brand new for $650 and that included a nice holster, mag holder and six mags, as well as a lifetime warranty from the local gun store.

I do hear good things about the RIAs.

This is of course unless something else turns up - like maybe a Colt Gold Cup National Match for the right price!
