What people are buying - Handguns or long guns?

Post by GunnyGene » Wed Oct 16, 2019 12:10 pm

As always, the raw numbers from NICS are a little squishy, but the trend is clear.

Some interesting State by State numbers from the NICS data. Far more handguns than long guns are being sold. This is also broken out by permit re-checks, etc. Several matrices in the article, but only posting one. With close examination of the data we can infer that buyers are far more interested in self-defense over the past few years than hunting since very few people hunt with a handgun as compared to rifles/shotguns.

Mags, I am in that same boat.
Say in the past 5 years way more rifles and shotguns than handguns.
And I know of the handguns, a couple of those were blackpowder revolvers. :D
Which according to the BAFTE those aren't even considered as firearms.

I don't have much confidence in the figures for North Carolina .... 13,463 handguns .... 89,522 long guns :?: :?: :?:

I want a handgun to help me decide which long gun to go with it. The options are amazing.

I am leaning towards the 9mm with a ruger or keltek rifle

The Ruger PC carbine in 9mm is really fun to shoot and if you order ammo online its not that bad. I have one and really like it. As far as the rest of it I have bought mostly handguns lately.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......
