That is the reason I think he would make the transition even better than Ambrose did.
Ambrose showed that it can be done and with success but never managed a oval win. Top 10, top 5 and even poles on ovals but never managed a win. Ambrose never had a seat I would class as with the best teams but when it came to road courses it didnt seem to matter.
With the support of the penske organisation I think scotty is in a better position for success.

A story coming out that McLaughlin was flown to the USA prior to the bathurst race to do some indy car simulator testing.
Apparently he bettered the times Will Power was setting in the same test, goes part of the way to explaining why Penske and McLaughlin havent been specifically referencing nascar when talking to the media about the possibility of racing in the USA.
Thought is indy car is probably a easier transition than nascar and Penske has compared him to Rick Mears on a few occasions.

On again tomorrow qualifying was yesterday top 10 shoot out later this afternoon.
Very wet this year but down under we race in just about any weather.
A few highlights from practice yesterday that show just how wet and difficult it can be

That is a serious track! Love that type of racing; Sebring, LeMans, Daytona Coupes. Fantastic drivers and cars. Thanks for posting this.

What a test of driver skills! I couldn't do that at city speeds. Wow.

Bit slow with an update as I started a 13 day stint working 12-14hr days Sunday.
Race was won by Shane Van Gisbergan to give him his 2nd win in 3 years and also wrap up his 3rd championship after wins in 2016 and 2021.
He is another Kiwi and a very good chance you may see him racing Nascar. 33 years of age and has been racing supercars in Aus since he was 17.
Very versatile driver that can drive anything very fast. The weekend before the Bathurst 1000 he competed in a round of the World Rally Championship driving one of the lower catagory cars and finished 9th outright after only one start earlier in the year in a round of the Australian Rally Championship. Last year he won the New Zealand Grand Prix. He has also had success racing GT cars winning endurance championship in 2016 and has raced at Daytona, LeMans Spa and Nurbergring . Has a indycar test with Andretti but the most likely place to see him race in the USA is a cameo at a street or road course with TrackHouse racing, the team that gave ex F1 star Kimi Raikkonen a drive this year.
