Diet Time

Post by BrokenolMarine » Fri May 10, 2019 1:16 pm

Ever look in the mirror... And wonder who that is looking back? ;)
I weighed 165 when I graduated from bootcamp at Parris Island. That was a long time ago.
I stayed between 180 - 190 for my 13+ years in the Corps, unless I was recovering from surgery...
During my time working patrol... 210 - 220... But I had a 52" chest and 40" waist.
I step on the scale these days, it cries "One at a time please!" :o ( 270 )

I could whine and make excuses:
Hard to exercise
Wheelchair
Pain levels
Injuries
Health issues.

The three main health issues? A two, a seven, and a zero.
I went to the program the VA offers on Tuesday, and wasn't too impressed at the presentation, but the handout had some good info.
If you want to lose weight quickly, but in a healthy manner, eat whatever you want from a healthy menu, but no more than 1,500 calories per day. You can cheat a bit once a week. (A SLICE of cake and ONE scoop of ice cream. NOT a cake and a tub of ice cream.)

They want you to come in 2x a week for a month, once a week for the following month, then once a month til you die for maintenance.
I live ninety minutes away. But.... :) ... They have a phone program. I am going to try that. Miss T and I are started a 1,500 calorie diet a couple days ago, and it's not that hard. It sux, but not that hard. Just have to make smart choices and have a bit (lot) of will power.

My goal? 220. I'd like to see 200. Short term... Make 240. :P. Wish me luck... Anyone else wanna tag along, make it a group effort?

Its tough for sure but I lost most of mine doing what they call the lean and green. Stay away from Beef and pork. Chicken Turkey and for the red I did buffalo. I now don't eat much beef I like buffalo so much better. Not sure if you like berries. But the berries family is great for you and will curb that ice cream and cake fondness.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

I wish you luck my friend. It's a hard thing to lose substantial weight. Your 1500 calorie diet sounds pretty good for a way to go. I know you will meet your goal.

Hang in there and do well. I'm pulling for you and Miss Tina.

I hope your journey pays off Jim. Would definitely tag along if the need was there.I hear it helps to have support along the way.
Fortunately, I have never had a weight problem. My Mom is very heavy at 87, but my Dad of the same age, is tall and thin. Must have gotten most of my genes from him. Have ranged from about 175 lbs to my current 190 for approx the last thirty years.
Currently 6' tall. I HAVE shrunk about 1/2" and shoe size has increased, as I think is normal, approaching 65.
Am able to eat pretty much Whatever I want short of a lot of dairy, ( lactose intolerance ).
Guess I've been somewhat blessed so far...or, maybe I have a pet Tape Worm that I'm un-aware of... ;)
Anyway, hope the trend continues and I DO wish you much success to achieve your goal.
Who knows what the future holds for us all... :)

No problem. Created an excel spreadsheet to track intake, and have stayed within the goal and well under most days. By writing down what I eat, I'm not likely to eat junk, which I wasn't doing too often. What I was doing, was two fers. Two fer me. :D
Miss T would say she was going to make hamburgers for lunch, and ask if it sounded okay.

I'd reply with, "Make two for me." 8-)
