Summer Cut

Post by BrokenolMarine » Fri Apr 26, 2019 10:20 pm

As a career Marine, then two decades in LE, I always had my hair short. I kept it short for several years after i retired, but when I stopped going "out" that much, I would let it go when the weather turned cold. ;) Ah... Miss T did NOT approve and would get vocal about it. I just turned my hearing aid down. :?

it never really gets THAT long, but it gets down touching my ears, curling at the back near my collar, is very thick, and just looks shaggy. It annoys Tina, but I tell her I am a Devil Dog. She doesn't see the humor. But, when the weather warms up enough to make my head sweat, then it itches... It's time for my summer look, much to her relief. I just drop into the chair, and say the magic words. "Cop Cut.". We Marines would know it as a high and tight, but these country barbers just get cross eyed if you use that phrase. They know it as a "Trooper Cut" as well. They skin the sides and leave some fuzz on top. Cool and never a bad hair day. Better wear a hat outside or you burn the top of your head.

Either tomorrow or Monday is the day Miss T has been waiting for.

No worries Jim, as you know, it grows back quickly.
So might as well keep a cool head, and keep "T" happy

Not a worry in the world.
I got tired of paying fifteen bucks a pop to keep my ears lowered for six or eight months of the year when I rarely leave the house except to hit the docs office. :D We go fishing, but mostly see no one. ;) I cut it short in the summer for comfort... :P I would do it myself, but I missed a strip on the back once. Miss T has an evil sense of humor... ... She didn't tell me for a couple days. She just grinned every time she saw it. :D

Never heard those haircut terms before. When I was working I usually got a buzz cut, especially in the Winter, always in a hurry in the morning and it was really easy to get dry. Since retiring I tell them "#3 on the sides and back, leave a inch on the top". Usually only get it cut every couple of months so it does get a little long between cuts.

My mom hated long hair, when I was in my early teens and wanting longer hair I remember coming home from the barber once, she said I hadn't gotten it cut short enough and made me go back. She did mellow quite a bit later on, in my later teens I grew it out quite long for a few years, She didn't like it but tolerated it.

I take mine “down to the wood” (clippers with no guard) at least twice a week. I’ve never actually shaved it with a razor, but it’s the best thing I’ve ever done. I have lots of hair, but I’d rather not deal with it’s natural state when it grows long (picture Alfred Einstein crossed with Bozo the clown, which is a good match to the rest of me too come to think of it).

I'm too cheap to get a hair cut often. I get it cut short and let it grow fluffy until it's annoying.

Time to trim my bread.
It kept getting caught under the XLRs butt pad and yanked out from the recoil.
Really ruined my follow-though rotine.
