Tiger Wins The Masters

Post by JEBar » Sun Apr 14, 2019 2:56 pm

I'm not a golfer, don't usually watch it on TV but seeing Tiger Woods win the Master's today was really cool .... we were camped at Heritage in August last week and I can guarantee that place is really wound up

My mother likes to watch it, but I agree it's like watching paint dry. Woods has had some physical issues to overcome, sounds like he did.

I used to play in the low 80s - if it was any warmer than that I didn't play!

I have actually played a few times, and it's better playing than watching for sure.

I used to play to a 2 handicap but I haven’t hit a golf ball in almost three years. I haven’t watched a tournament in several years either. I swore Tiger off after his infidelity was exposed but I guess after several years of him not winning I think I am glad to see him win the Masters again. That said, I hope he never catches Jack’s 18 majors.

I watched a lot of it hoping anyone out there would win but him. I was never a fan, but after how he treated his wife and family along with all the controversy and poor sportsmanship at times, I totally lost it for him. I'm sorry too.

I too have mixed feelings about him for all the reasons mentioned but one thing that got lost in this weeks masters was how he broaden the audience for golf fans and his support for the First Tee program. Example.
Tony Finau, who was in contention. A man of color. His race was not even mention. Before Tiger, it would have been the lead story. Like I said, mixed feelings. But give him some credit for preserving through it all.

"Back in the day," when Tiger was rising to the top of the pro golfing world, he was simultaneously proving himself to be a terrible husband and father. It cost him dearly, then his health/injuries caught up to him. He did nothing to improve his cause, as his sportsmanship was nonexistent.

But, I'm a fan of second chances, and he's now created one for himself. I would have felt better if he'd used anything close to the word "humbled" during his post-tournament comments, but winning The Masters could leave one without exactly the right words.

It's a great story about a great golfer who has shown himself to be not so great a person. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for now, and just hope he's smart enough to understand that the world is watching, with many just waiting (and maybe hoping) for the "old Tiger" to surface again.

He's unbelievably talented at his chosen profession. I just want to see some fundamental changes in his approach to life.

Maybe he will change enough to win most people back.

Time will tell.
