RR,

MONTANA PBS and SPOKANE, WA PBS have been playing a two part series on CHARLES RUSSELL'S life and art work all over again. They broadcast into Canada too.

YOU TUBE may them too.

LOOKING at your pictures in this thread reminds me to watch LONESOME DOVE all over again!

Keep warm and blessings to you and yours.

All beautiful paintings, RR. Really enjoyed looking at them tonight, and especially like how vibrantly they depict the Old West.

Your post motivated me to find a favorite painting I have saved in my picture files. It is titled: "The Old Prospector" by the artist, Alfredo Rodríguez. I don't know his artwork real well, but he's done many Indian paintings also. If I may, here it is:

Been there several times myself and they are always changing things. You can spend an entire day and not see it all. Just great!

Hey All,

I should probably post in the new member section first but seein a post on Russell...

Bein a Montana native he is a favorite of mine too. The center of the west in Cody, Wyo has great Russell art as well. Don't have a lot to add about Russell so I thot I'd add a song. 1922 by the Munsick brothers out of Sheridan Wyo. King ropes country. Ties to C M Russell and Alberta.

From an art perspective Ill add a favorite of mine Olaf Wieghorst. If you have ever seen El Dorado starring John Wayne those pictures at the beginning are all Wieghorst paintings. Here is a video of just the credits with the paintings.

He gets all the details right too. Good luck buyin one.

Nice to meet you all and real glad others appreciate western art.

PS Ranchroper we've covered a lot of the same country I suspect. A song about my hometown by the high country cowboys..
