I don't mind the procedure at all, just tell the doctor I want maximum sedation and I don't remember a thing about it. Even the purge is not too bad, but the 2 days of nothing but broth and jello are hard to get through.
The doctors put me under for both of my procedures.

was a different prep solution and this time. much easier to tolerate getting it down.

results were good. on a 2 yr recheck now instead of yearly.

I've had 3 over the years, 2 at the VA, last one private doc. The prep has gotten better ( or less bad ). As another poster said, the procedure itself is a piece of cake, compared to the prep. Got another one due in a yr. or so. Found some polups last time, on a 3 yr schedule now.

Well, just survived my third procedure. It is still medieval in my opinion. I don’t care how the prep tastes, it is still torturous. The actual colonoscopy is no big deal. I succumb to anesthesia like a pro. No side effects, other than farting. They did one polyp/biopsy.

But, I am now on a 5 year plan. Maybe due to age.

I am due for one since my last one was five years ago. It will be put off a while since the hospital is not doing what they call "elective" surgeries due to the Wuhan Virus.

I'm on the five year rotation, too. Next procedure is due next year in March .

back in '03 I was hospitalized with a perforated bowl that resulted in a colonoscopy where they removed a pretty good size section of large intestine .... the good news is, the operation has proven to be successful .... the equally good news is, the section removed is the one where most polyps that give trouble are formed ... I try to never say never but as a result, coupled with my age, I'm pretty much done with colonoscopies .... I guess that could be considered one of the few benefits of getting old .. :?
