Time to celebrate our Freedom and Independence once again with 4th of July just around the corner!
Out of curiosity, I looked up the meaning behind why we celebrate Independence Day by using fireworks. Fireworks are just a very faint "repeat" of the cannon shots used in the early Independence celebrations we had for our country. I found this quote by one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. I'd say our fireworks today cover how they used "cannon and bells and illuminations" for this special day. Kind of a cool history on how we celebrate our freedom.
Be safe as you celebrate 4th of July, Everyone!"John Adams, himself a signer of the Declaration, thought that Americans should henceforth celebrate a “great anniversary festival.” In a letter to his wife Abigail he wrote, “It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forevermore.”
