Independence Day 2018

SALUTE

Out of curiosity, I looked up the meaning behind why we celebrate Independence Day by using fireworks. Fireworks are just a very faint "repeat" of the cannon shots used in the early Independence celebrations we had for our country. I found this quote by one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. I'd say our fireworks today cover how they used "cannon and bells and illuminations" for this special day. Kind of a cool 8-) history on how we celebrate our freedom.
"John Adams, himself a signer of the Declaration, thought that Americans should henceforth celebrate a “great anniversary festival.” In a letter to his wife Abigail he wrote, “It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forevermore.”
Be safe as you celebrate 4th of July, Everyone!

Great post PT7. At my part time job at a Huge company, they had us all in the break room for a celebration of Cinco de Mayo, decorations and a 5 minute story of the Mexican Independence. Can't wait, I'll be there Wednesday to see what we do on the 4th.............

Hey, Henry,
Sounds like you'll have a good day....much easier to be "on the job" with the expectation to celebrate your homeland!
Enjoy. :)

P.S. If you get a chance, let us know how the day goes.

Guns. Hum. Might be, a good day to go to the range also? May we continue to exercise the liberties endowed by the Creator and guaranteed by the Constitution. Have a happy Independence Day!

Others have already shared appreciation, so shall I. To our Veterans, Reserves, Active service members and families who have lost someone serving our country, from deep down thank you for your service and sacrifice!!!

Don't know about Colorado, but here we can find decent fireworks, but it takes some work. Buy and try, take pictures, keep notes for what to buy or not buy next year.

Everyone, have a bang up fourth!
