I didn't like it right away. For one I was expecting it to follow the story line in the books. After a hiatus to watch Hell on Wheels, I got back into Longmore and after the 3rd episode or so settled in to liking it. For me the alternate universe from the books worked out well.

Seems like Longmire is a fan favorite all over the gun-owning world. Lots of discussion on the 1911 boards about his 1911s (apparently he had 2 throughout the series), its holster (some type of Galco paddle, as I recall, but that may be wrong), and so on.

I've never looked closely at the lever-gun he carries around in the series. Assume it's a Winchester 94? Anybody know for sure?
