The Gunny has passed.
The Guard detail for Heaven's Gate has a new NCOIC.
I had always hoped for a chance to meet him. Never happened.

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

Appreciate the post, Marine, although it carried the sad news of his passing.
Always enjoyed watching the Gunny. His presentations usually carried a neat, dry sense of humor, and that will be missed.
Great rifle video, RR. Gunny's left-hand hold on that 1860 was tight to the receiver; his target POIs were impressive. And it was fun also to learn about the Spencer and see it in action.
Thanks, Gentlemen.

Re: RIP R Lee Ermey
Read a little while ago that most of his lines in Full Metal Jacket were not scripted. Stanley Kubrick just had him walk in and start spewing insults in whatever manner Ermey thought would come off as realistic.
RIP.

He also did about half the bootcamp scenes in an upper body cast. Rewatch that part of the movie and look how stiff his arms and upper body are held. Really bad auto accident. Hard Corps Gunny!

He was an unknown pretty much until Full Metal Jacket. It was a very good performance and I was glad to see success come his way after that. I enjoyed following whatever shows he did.
It seems too young to go.

I always enjoyed watching Gunny's videos. He was very knowledgeable, and could put his money where his mouth was when it came to shooting. Without him, FMJ would have been just another war movie - with him, it is a classic.
RIP Gunny.

Had the pleasure of meeting and talking to "The Gunny" at the SHOT show several times. He loved his fans as much as they loved him. He was a regular at the GLOCK booth. RIP Gunny- you will be missed.

I can remember saying I'd never own a GLOCK,never own an AR15 and never get married. I found out that never is a long, long time!
