I had two cases of Scout mugs in the donation, maybe more as some were double stacked. I kept three. One each from the National Jamborees I attended and one from the International Jamboree in Scotland. All get used now.

I have a collection of foreign money from countries I've visited over the years. Some of the currency isn't in circulation any longer which makes it interesting to me.

Similarly, I have a collection of casino chips from around Las Vegas. Some of the casinos have been torn down and replaced.

Interesting that both collections can demonstrate change in such a short period of time.

I guess you could say I collected guitars since I don't play them professionally. I have 8 of them. Anyone want to buy one or two?

That's funny... I have a small envelope in the safe filled with foreign coins and a couple fancy bills because I thought they were pretty. Some countries go all out on their money, five and six colors, fancy artwork... ... gaudy even. I think a lot of military folks end up with unintentional collections like mine. You convert money at each port, and unless you have a lot left over... the lines to convert back to US was to long to bother.

I am a user not a collector of things and stuff. Things get used and ENJOYED or they go bye bye.

I used to keep many (A few thousand.) books PLUS I used the libraries a LOT growing up on the EAST COAST in a book filled house and in the Great Lakes region (Boonies.) with my late husband. HIS home state not mine but I lived there for over 30 years in the house that we built.

I brought a few of my favorite books out west with me when I sold out after he died. After a few years out west, I donated (Library.) and gifted (Friends.) almost all of them OUT of 2 boxes that I originally kept and moved in my former Coleman pop up camper. ALL or 99% of my books from back east were donated to the library and GIFTED to friends who really wanted specific books BEFORE I moved out west from the large house, large garage and small barn. I have NOT missed one item or BOOK given to friends, my older brother, my older sister, the library, church/charity or sold outright.

If I died today, I would have 1 box of books to my name and my husband would have 2 to 3 boxes to his name since we have donated and GIFTED many more books to the library and friends. His gun room/den has one box of reloading and gun books that would make up one of those boxes.

We only own one medium sized box of western, classic and war movies/shows now since we have been busy GIFTING MORE of them to the library for the last couple of years too. We still do not want or use cable/dish for the boob tube. What comes in via a small indoor antenna is sufficient (I can get reception here where I built this house and I have no clue if I will get ANY reception if I build another home this spring/summer.) and if I want to be 'programmed' with the L/R news and so forth... I use the internet connection for the computer.

I still USE my specifically chosen BUCK and KABAR knives but I don't call them a collection. They get used around the house and get carried outside. They are not kept in a safe or in a glass cabinet.

I rarely shoot now but my husband still shoots a LOT during the year. His guns are users not in a collection.

He did end up getting ANOTHER HENRY RIFLE (30-30 - HOO9 to add to his HENRY 45-70.) and ANOTHER CZ 22lr rifle (455 Training). He used up his full in store credit from other guns that we sold over the years. We gave a BUNCH of FACTORY 12 gauge ammo to his close friend when he decided to sell his last shotgun. He thought that he would keep that shotgun forever but he hardly shot it so he decided to sell it. It sold FAST too.

I collect memories as one person said and they remain within my heart, soul and brain.

You are right! Sometimes I hold on to the money because I assume I'll be back (euros, Swiss francs, pounds). Other times I keep a nice example of a bill or two just because they are colorful!
