I never care to make negative comments about someone's home state because they live there and may have every good reason to want to stay there. I will just say that I am sorry.

That is the kind of thinking that makes this forum great.Deadwood Dutch wrote:I never care to make negative comments about someone's home state because they live there and may have every good reason to want to stay there. I will just say that I am sorry.

Coach,
In CT, magazines for semi-automatic pistols and rifles are restricted to 10 rounds or less, but most common types of handguns are allowed. What is NOT on the currently approved list of handguns in CA? Just curious. Thanks.

CT.....we are limited to 10 round mags too. There are still many guns on the roster but hardly any new models, usually it's been A revolver or two. The models not being renewed and dropping off the roster is 59 pages long. It really _____ !CT_Shooter wrote:Coach,

A new law requires micro stamping on the firing pin or extractor to be CA legal is the main driver of no new guns being approved. Naturally nobody's doing that. The technology doesn't exist for mass production. It's just another stupid anti gun law out here designed to keep law abiding citizens from getting guns.
If a gun is already in the state you can still buy it if it's not on the roster. This is done via PPT. That's how I got my H&K VP9. Off roster guns are going for $300-$500 plus more over prices in the free states. You can still get them but you gotta pay up for what you want.
A crazy thing is since the cops are exempt from the roster they're the ones bringing them in. They buy them then sit on them for awhile, then sell them for a profit. I guess to sum it up, you can still get what you want if you have enough money.

Thanks for the explanation, Coach. That helps me to understand the differences there. I appreciate it.

Re: California hand gun roster
Up until 2016 we had the single shot exemption law. This allowed you to bring in off roster hand guns that were blocked to allow only one round. After you got the gun you simply took the block out and enjoyed your gun. Effective January 1 of this year they closed the single shot exemption "loophole".
There's still a lot of stock for sale. You just have to know where to look. Calguns is a good source for the non roster market.
Gen 4 Glocks go for over $1,000 out here. Sig Legion series $1,500

Re: California hand gun roster
I too am sorry for you all.
I have a brother that lives in California. When he and his family come back for a visit, we fill the air with smoke and lead. Shotguns & clay pigeons, rifles - handguns - and steel gongs. When they go back home, it takes weeks to reload the shotgun shells and the centerfire brass but it is worth every minute of it.
Nothing like a family that can shoot together!

Oops! She missed that one
