New Year's Traditions and Meals
we will spend New Year's at home .... historically in our part of the country a New Year's meal menu includes :
collard greens, blackeyed peas, side meat/pork, and cornbread
yep, that's what will be on our table ..... how about yours

Re: New Year's Traditions and Meals
Well normally we do seafood. Lobster, snail salad, calamari; but this stuff is just expensive. Years ago I would go dive and fish and get all this for nada; but I no longer live in New England. Here in SW FL this requires some cha-ching. So this year we are doing pizzas, beer and a little "shine". It's currently in the 40's at night this weekend so we'll probably do the fire pit thing. Had a fire last night and a few brews; fun time with the neighbors.

Yep, home for us also, too many idiots out there tonight!!
Traditional hillbilly pork and sauerkraut. Hillbilly tradition says it brings good luck if you eat pork & kraut at midnight. I like it also and may post a recipe later.
As always I will shoot Grandpa's 12ga at 12:00 !! As he did

Pork, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and applesauce and rolls. We have the pork roast thawed out and ready for the crock pot tomorrow morning.

Re: New Year's Traditions and Meals
I hope those who celebrate tonight have a safe and happy time. Enjoy the company, the special food, and the good fun as you ring in the new year. As for us, 2017 will arrive in CT while we're in a deep and (hopefully) peaceful sleep.

Sometimes the fireworks wake me up, but most times they don't.
