Despite the hoopla, this is not a true Constitutional carry bill. It is for handguns only. The U.S. Constitution does not specify a type of weapon. That said, it's a good start, & we'll keep working on it. Nothing happens in the TN Legislature in one stroke.
I don't travel out of state much, if at all, but some states will not honor this, so, you would still need an approved permit.

So I'm good to go open or concealed carry. No matter the new law.

Congrats to Tennessee.
When we moved to Georgia from NJ in 1989 our first priority was getting our concealed carry permit. Then moving to Virginia in 2011 my priority again was to obtain a CCP. In 2015 our Attorney General came out with a recommendation not to offer reciprocity with certain states. Which would have left a big gap in states that would honor Virginia's CCP. So my wife obtained a non-resident Utah carry permit which more than covered the gap our AG tried to create. Fortunately that reciprocity changed never happened. We maintain our Virginia permits and just renewed out Utah permit the beginning of this year.

I hold Minnesota and Florida permits which works for me. That covers most states that have CC.

Yep! Same here. I've had a permit since they first came out back in the 90s. I rarely ever carry open. I like the element of surprise.

The real power of CC is that someone with not good intentions has no idea who in a group is carrying, or if in fact no one is.
With open carry they can single out who to eliminate first.
I carry everyplace and I think no one even suspects.

There's valid arguments (pro and con) on both methods, but what isn't so commonly discussed are the specific details of either method. Just arguing for or against either method without consideration of the details (holster, location of carry, how they are dressed that day/night, firearm, etc.) is not helpful for someone trying to decide which is best for them under their circumstances and abilities - or disabilities. There is no one size fits all, nor is it an either/or decision.cooperhawk wrote: ↑Fri Apr 09, 2021 11:47 amThe real power of CC is that someone with not good intentions has no idea who in a group is carrying, or if in fact no one is.
