Re: This sucks
AN UPDATE ON THE ORIGINAL PROJECT!
The original project, was to build the berm for MY personal shooting range here on the farm. These things kinda get lost in medical emergencies. There were a few questions, and I got the Boss to drive me down to take some pics to do the answers some justice.
Let's start up at the range house near the chicken coop, When we first bought the house, and were looking to add the she shed for Miss T, I had been working on the plans and materials list for the range house. This was a repo on the lot where we bought Tina's shop. Very nice, and not much more than materials for the smaller building on paper on my desk.
as you can see, it has my target frames, steel targets, and the buckets of spent brass.
Step outside, and look downrange toward the pond. In this new picture you can see the trailer and the rr ties. thats the general area where the berm will go. It's about 90 yards.

Re: This sucks
Moving up to the berm end of the range, we see the scene of the crime. This is where Miss T and I were unloading the RR Ties, and a stack of rogue ties attempted to attack a brokenolMarine. As you can see in the pic, they cleverly laid a trap, tossing a trip hazzard behind the old fella, and down he went.
This is a great load, a nice score, We know what Karma is. She rhymes with witch. I got such a deal... I had to pay.
The berm will be built in line with the lane from the range house, to the right of the pond road seen here. The road runs along the pond and out to the pasture.
Here is a peek at the pond. Yes, there are fish there.
Here is a look back up range toward the range house.

Best wishes to you Jim!...that really does suck.
I shattered my wrist back in my 20's. Fractured in seven places. Took a while to heal, but no worse for the wear today.
Get well soon!

No doubt. I've seen snails blow right by the VA & never raise a sweat.BrokenolMarine wrote: ↑Wed Apr 07, 2021 5:23 pmI'm sure the contracted doc will take care of things, just wasn't really happy with the delay in the approval process when they knew I was in pain. I bet if it had been one of their family members sufferings, the process would have moved a lot faster.

I rarely ever buy a rifle, but when I do, it's a Henry.

Re: This sucks
Man Marine you are really going to have a nice set up when you get that all done. Do you have anyone helping you with the construction of the range beside Ms T

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Re: This sucks
Nope.
We will put them in place with the forks on the tractor. The neighbor did say he has an auger for digging post holes that will fit the tractor if we want to use it. I will probably use the precut rebar (12 to 24 inch) as spikes to secure the rr ties.
Once we have the "retention" wall in place, we will put the dirt in front, and replace that as needed. Since there won't be that much use, it will probably last a (my) lifetime.
I have reactive steel, plates, swingers, and pepper poppers... Plus frames for paper targets. I also have some creative targets from my teaching days.

Not surprised it laid a trap. You can't trust a railroad tie. It's spent it's whole life holding up trains.

Saw the doc at 1245
He said the bone was indeed a crush fracture, and I had lost some length. They could, and should, do surgery.
When?
Does tomorrow work for me?
Why yes it does.
