It’s an incredible 60 degrees right now. Interesting, the high for a couple of days next week is 51. How quickly the weather can change. High today of 73 with rain coming in this evening. Rain tomorrow and Sunday then cooler but sunny days after that.

I’m taking advantage of this maybe last nice day this fall and hitting the golf course. Playing a course over in Idaho that has long distances between holes so we’ll get a nice walk in nice weather.

56 at 8:30AM .... forecasted high 71 followed by an overnight low of 58 .... no rain today but "Tropical Rainstorms" on tap for tomorrow .... only thing on our schedule for today that will take us away from home is Maureen has an appointment to get her Covid and Flu shots

51' and cloudy this morning. Still cloudy. Maybe 61' today. Last night Thunder/Lightening storm directly over head with a huge downpour. In just a few minutes it was all calm.

61 humid degrees under an overcast sky at 9AM .... predicted high for today 67, only dropping back to 62 for our overnight low .... a tropical system is moving inland from our southeast to the northwest that will bring us rain today and tomorrow .... from looking at the weather radar, when this impressive front gets to our area tropical rain will dominate our weather for several hours

48 with a nice overnight rain that has stopped for now. Not a whole lot but we’re happy with anything. More rain later today and again tomorrow. Highs in the 60’s for now and the 50’s for next week. We have a winter storm warning for the mountains of NE Washington and Idaho for 6-12” of snow in the upper elevations. Maybe some wet snow on Monday here in the valley floors.

Congrats to the Seattle Mariners for defeating Detroit last night to move on in the playoffs. 15 innings, it was a marathon to watch especially after a long day on the golf course. I was tired but manned up and watched until the end.

Used the wood stove for the first time yesterday. This time of year we need just a touch of heat to warm the house in the morning, but the furnace wasn't working (as well as any other household appliance that runs of 220). Got the fire going to take the morning chill out of the house, while I sorted out the power problem. Long story cut short, found out one of the feed fuses at the meter box out in the yard had blown. Modern breaker panels use a circuit breaker, but this panel is from the 1960's, uses fuses and might be original from when the house was built. The previous owner (prior to 30yrs ago) left a spare in the bottom of the box. While running errands I tried to to find a place where I could buy spares. The fuses may have once been common, but not so much now. Try shopping at Home Depot or Ace HW for an 8inch long/2inch diameter 200A fuse. Anyway I found a commercial electrical supply that had them. $93 each.

Last summer, I had a Generac installed in my 1960s ranch house. About twenty years ago, I converted from the original electric heat to oil hot air, so lots of the panel breakers weren't in service but the breakers on it were so old none of electricians had ever seen some of them before; the entire thing needed to be updated. Over the years, several other electrician had apparently worked around the ancient mouse nesting material and the gnawed thru wiring. Ka' Ching.

The weather here is about to get pretty nasty. A Nor' Easter with lots of wind and rain is expected late Sunday. That Generac may get some live action.
