Semi Auto vs O/U for recoil reduction?
Re: Semi Auto vs O/U for recoil reduction?
I don't know what pricing does as it crosses the border, but here's the Beretta equivalent of the Mossberg, but in black. In US $$, a couple hundred more, but who knows what your dealer up there might be able to do?

That's a pretty good price on that Beretta Evan. I'm going to send over a picture of my 930.

We definitely get hit by import fees etc. The dollar is about 30% different right now, so $1000 CDN is +/- $700 USD. If I could get a basic 930 in matte black and 26” barrel it would run $599 CDN at Cabela’s here, which is $400 USD. That’s a great price, but not the gun I want. The pics below show Cabela’s offerings, and Reliable Gun is a friend of mines store.

Re: Semi Auto vs O/U for recoil reduction?
I wrote an email to Mossberg tonight asking them to help me find one of the Turkey/Field models in Canada. It will be interesting to see how their customer service is. I really wish Henry made a 12 gauge semi auto right about now...

That's a pretty good looking line-up to choose from, but, man, does that Beretta end up being expensive! From what's shown above, what direction are you headed?

If the Grab-A-Gun "formula" for Canada is GAG's price + $250 to export, wouldn't that bring the Beretta A300 in at about $900 (US)?

Just for comparison's sake, Tom had me post the picture below, of his Mossberg 930 "Duck Commander" (GREAT name for a shotgun!), now discontinued. I'm guessing 28" bbl, but not exactly sure. Tom can fill in answers to any questions. FYI, picture taken before the Pink Towel phenomenon, so no penalty assessed!

Re: Semi Auto vs O/U for recoil reduction?
LOL! No penalty. Funny! Yes, 28" barrel, the retainer is steel. Simple as any other gas gun to take apart and clean and re-assemble. Shoots ANY type of 12ga. Light target, Wal-mart delights, upland anything. Everything. No hiccups as of yet.
Probably 2,000+ rounds thru it. It was only offered, as far as I know, thru Bud's. And only for a short time. I've heard issue's with other 930's, tho those always seem to be the "tactical" version[?] with the extended mag-tube and fast firing. Don't know for sure. Mine has been solid since day one. I don't use it as much as some shot gunners, but, so far, so good.

Re: Semi Auto vs O/U for recoil reduction?
There is actually a new Duck Commander model for sale near me. They are wanting $959 CDN for it. I did find a shop in AZ that ships stuff to Canada monthly, and they can get the one I want for $661 USD to my door. That’s $890 CDN. My one local guy heard back his Mossberg rep today, and thinks he can get me one. He’s just waiting to confirm. If he can’t get it, I may go check out the DC model.

I do like my 930, but, that Beretta is hard to beat. Too dang bad it's expensive where you're at. Hopefully, if you do buy the 930, it will be as reliable as mine. Good to hear they're are some still available.
Edit: Evan, I'm sending over an improved picture. Just to make sure no late penalties involved!
