Cogswell & Harrison firearms

Post by GunnyGene » Mon Apr 08, 2019 8:51 am

A question to me about a old C&H flare gun I have inspired me to post a thread about it and the company.

This is the pistol that was asked about. C&H MkIII from 1916. About 75,000 of these were made by C&H and many more by other companies under contract to the British Gov. during WWI and prior to WWII. This one was my fathers.

The company itself has been in business since 1770 and is Britains oldest surviving firearms company, best known for their exquisite shotguns and big game double rifles. Some of which sell for $50,000 and up. The NRA museum has some additional info, and much can be found out about them on the web. Here's their website. Note that if you are interested in a "Bespoke" gun, you won't find a listed price. You must contact them to arrange for the manufacture of the gun to your desires.
