Stevens model 235

Post by Vaquero » Mon Sep 24, 2018 12:28 pm

Ok, last week as some may know I got a call from a lady friend who was wanting to sell a couple of her father's guns.
I bought the Marlin on site  and brought home this Stevens to clean and do some research.
Well I call her back this morning to tell her what I found out.
Then made a reasonable offer, and she expected it. These were made from around 1912 to '32 in 12 ga.
Says they made 61,500.
I had to clean out the firing pins and the channels.
No pitting in the barrel I'm pretty happy.
Here ya go enjoy.

I'd be pretty pleased with that acquisition, too. It really looks great -- especially like the wood on stock and forend. All the metal parts look to be in good shape, and the coloring is darn sharp-looking. Surprising that there is no pitting in the barrel at that age. That's just another plus.

But the design configuration is what I really like. Double triggers and exposed hammers....very cool 8-) !!
Nice to have a friend, who is willing to sell special guns like this one.
Congrats & Enjoy!

Very nice job of cleaning and about as classic as it gets in a vintage side by side. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the kind words everybody.

Suppose to go up to Minn. the end of next month.
Think I'll take it along, be neat to knock down a pheasant or two with the ole gal.

Well I was invited to Minnesota on a little pheasant hunt, took this ole gal along.
I did hunt with it for an hour or so, did manage to get a couple before I switched back to something a tab bit safer.
