Shotgun

Post by Carver » Fri May 11, 2018 8:32 pm

This is one of my favorite shotguns it is Winchester model 1911 SL. It was produced from 1911-1925. I think that it kind of unique as it has to be cocked by pulling the barrel back and depressing a dead bolt to hold open the action while you load the first shell, the rest of the shells are loaded from the bottom. I used to take it dove hunting but quit as I didn’t want to break it, I doubt if parts are available. It has 2 barrels full choke and a cylinder choke in order to change barrels you have to unscrew it with a wrench, both barrels have a fore piece. It just a wall hanger now but one of my favorites.

I wouldn't say ".....just a wall hanger," Carver. That is a really beautiful shotgun especially at the age on it. And both because of the history it has, and also for the beautiful wood (engraved stock also) furniture I see in your photo. Ah, if it were on my wall it would be the cool wall hanger! Great piece of shotgun craftsmanship from my view of it.

I did redo the stock when I got it but that way many years ago, I think I got in 62 from a friend of mine.
