I am also left handed and I often carry a Walther Q5 match in 9mm. It has a very nice slide lever on both sides, a great trigger and it is a very accurate firearm. My son who is also left handed carries a FN 509 tactical which is fully ambidextrous. But I don't like the slide release lever on his as well (its very small, where the Walther is quite large)

Re: New EDC
I carry a 9 shield. I used to carry a 1911, but it's heavy, and if im being truthful it's just to nice of a pistol, to be banging around all day on my side and getting wet and whatnot. I bought the S&W 9shield for its size, and it's durability. It shoots well, doesn't rust, and I hardly know it's there. It draws fast, and it's fun to practice with. I have severe arthritis in my hands, so I only have to lock and load once. I keep it at condition 1 . there's no safety on mine, so safety and awareness is paramount. I really like the little 9mm. When I go somewhere away from home I also carry a spare magazine with me.

Re: New EDC
Thanks everybody for all your great insights, I tested several 9mm models and a couple of .40’s. I found one I really like and it fits me well. I purchased a FN 509 because it fits my hand, great sight radius and it is ambidextrous.
