The 1858 Remmie has arrived!

Post by fortyshooter » Fri Apr 24, 2020 5:25 pm

What a surprise as I was waiting for an email to show up confirming shipping and heard the Brown Truck show up and there it was!

All I can say is WOW what a beauty of a 6 shooter! These pics taken before cleaning the oil off and the bluing is really something
in the sunlight. CCH colors with the engraving is very nice!

Fit and finish as well as the solid feel of the action working is fantastic plus it just feels GREAT in the hand!
I had thought it would feel bulky with the 8 inch barrel but it is very well balanced and no heavy feel at all.

It fits an old holster I have for my Ruger SBH with 7.5 barrel!

The cylinder gap is really tight for a BP gun at .003 ! Lock up is tight no slop or loose cylinder end play...tight!
Conversion cylinder for .45 Colt slipped right in place with same tight end play and a .004 cylinder/barrel gap...should be a good shooter!
Maybe some special engraving on that conversion cylinder one day.

Hey I can see the sights good to but will have to aim a bit low as they shoot high so they say.

Range report coming soon!

Going to try a .45 Colt load that should be mild enough which is the Speer 230 gr. RN bullet which is swaged lead loaded over 5.5 gr. of Red Dot with a 1.585 COL. Anything over 1.605 gets close to the edge of cylinder.
I also have about 12 rounds left in an old box of Winchester Cowboy Action ammo 250 gr. and rated at 750 FPS. I believe.

I checked the conversion cylinder throats with one of the 230 gr. bullets and it just slides with finger pressure and measures .452

So when we get a break in this rainy weather again I will see what Remmie likes!

I've yet to be disappointed in the fit and finish of any Uberti single actions and they all shoot as good as they look. That one is terrific. Congrats, forty.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Hopefully Tuesday a range day! I have some Black MZ loads ready to make some smoke.

With most new SA revolvers folks dry fire the trigger to break it in. With this one I'm removing the cylinder and putting it back in and trying
to be smooth with it!
