Maybe the Bisley Blackhawk with .45 Colt/ .45 ACP cylinder?Shakey Jake wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2020 2:19 pmWell, to be honest I've lost my enthusiasm for the .44 mag. I like to think too much, it's a flaw of mine, and have been vacillating for awhile now. I think I'll just wait a bit and maybe, just maybe go for the Blackhawk .45LC/ACP convertible.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Re: Ruger 44 mag
Another vote for the 45 Colt/45 ACP convertible setup. Of all the convertibles, I think this one is the best balanced in terms of performance from each cartridge. My Ruger Blackhawk with the 45 ACP cylinder can hold its own with a good 1911 and no need to mess with moon clips as you must with a double action revolver when shooting this cartridge. Another big plus for the 45 ACP is the affordable cost of factory ammo. Way cheaper than shooting factory 44 Specials in a 44 mag. The Blackhawk does well even with the cheapest bulk aluminum case 45 ACP ammo.
If you get a full size Ruger Blackhawk in a 45 (not the NM Vaquero or the flat top), you can shoot Ruger only 45 Colt loads that can take you beyond the power of standard 44 mag loads. Be warned, though, these are nasty to shoot, but it's a nice option to have. One final note on 45 Colt Ruger SAs: they have cylinder throats designed to shoot jacketed bullets, so if you want to shoot the larger diameter lead bullets, you may have to open those throats up a bit by using a reamer.

Ordered the Blackhawk Convertible today. Don't know how long it will take to come in. I'll post after I pick it up from my FFL.

Re: Ruger 44 mag
I have one of those convertibles as well, and the acp cylinder works great in my Vaquero also.
Hope it don't take to long Jake.

Yes...actually a Taylor's Company Running Iron in .45 Colt that I swapped a bird's head grip frame on to it.
Now I have gone back to the original gun slinger grip it came with.

Received a UPS tracking # on the Blackhawk. Hopefully I'll have it in a couple of days.
