The .357 Henry rifle revolver combo decision....

Post by fortyshooter » Wed Mar 18, 2020 1:54 pm

Yes it's been nagging at me to look for a nice .357 SA revolver to be a shooting companion along with my new Henry CCH BB .357

Now sensible says that my current 1976 edition S&W M 66 is a fantastic shooter with an excellent worn in trigger pull in DA or SA pull with no
creep at all...it's just crisp and click and it hits where you point it.

Now Mr. "Go for it" says jump on that deal for a new Cimarron Evil Roy SA .357 revolver that has been worked on by the Evil Roy group in Texas.
Plus it blends in looks wise with the Henry.

That other revolver is my Taylors/Uberti Running Iron in .45 Colt which has had action work and looks the same as the Evil Roy .357.

Decisions...decisions.
I can just move on and save 700 bucks!

I believe I thanked you two for my Henry .357 purchase and you guys were right on!!

Now the walnut grips on the S&W blend well with the Henry wood!! Maybe go to town with a dark blue marker on the shiny S&W ??

When I pull the trigger on the Uberti it is light with a touch of creep but when hammer falls it feels like a heavy clunk like a heavy hammer fall.
With the S&W you lightly nudge the trigger...no creep and the hammer fall is very light feeling with no clunk. Just a ting and bam!
I wonder if the Evil Roy would be the same?

The old Smith 66 with no dash number is a goodie with pinned barrel...recessed chamber pockets and of course way pre lock!

Yes I know. There are 2 versions of the Evil Roy...the old style and new with the floating spring loaded firing pin that doesn't have the Colt 4 clicks.
The guys at Evil Roy have several of the old style which is like the old Colts.

Al, I'd rather have it in 45 colt than 44 spl.
