Hand cannon fun in the backyard

Post by Vaquero » Sat Mar 14, 2020 4:15 pm

Yep, right here in the yard. ;)
Got the Black Hawk in 41 and the 45 Vaquero that I put the bird's head grip on and am ringing the gongs.
Round about 25 yds just an estimate not exact.
Stepped back to the deck a min, going to repaint 'em.

On my way out to paint and of course take a pic
Stop off the litter patio with 41 so 40ish yds. shooting at the 8" one handed I hit it first shot :o
Miss, hit but I :o  you'll see.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Because with the hammer down,
you have to pull the hammer back just like a single action revolver before the pistol is ready.

I have a little striker pistol (Browning 1910) that has to be pulled back/cocked to fire is that consider a single action?

No hammer. Can't un-cock it so maybe no?

Never thought of it that way in the context of a semiauto.

Yes, even though it cocks it's self after the first shot yes.
Because of the hammer down situation, as the way it was explained to me many years ago.
I have Ruger P90 that is built on the 1911 design, but with the hammer down I can pull the trigger and it will cock and fire.
That first pull is similar to the long pull on a double action revolver, but
after that it's a much sweeter trigger.
