Smith and Wesson 31-1

Post by Shakey Jake » Wed May 30, 2018 2:32 pm

I got my Smith and Wesson this morning and it's much better than anticipated. Looks almost new! I'm excited about getting it out to the range to shoot!

I have a Colt Police Positive, vintage 1926, and shoot the 32 S&W Long. Your Smith is very similar, but much prettier. Looking forward to your range reports. Easy shooting, but loud!

Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.

You guys are killing me with these vintage revolver pics, you know. Probably get worse when you do some range reports. :) Keep 'em coming, though.

Keep those wheelguns turning, Folks!!!
Great photos of great classics.
All these posts make it very hard not to do some wheelgun shopping....just like the Henry rifle posts do.
What a Forum!

(If there were a "thumbs up" smilie on the Forum choices, I'd be wearing that button out! )

This Colt Official Police .38 revolver was manufactured in 1956. It was given to me by my father-in-law, a former firefighter, who got it from a police officer in our home town who carried it as his service revolver until he retired. It's in pristine condition and I'm honored to own it for all of the obvious reasons.

I think it is amazing how simple things work for a long time. Built to last and not disposable.

I agree. Those vintage gun were made with the full expectation that they would last a lifetime. Just one of many reasons I value guns from that era so much. Different world.

Love that Victory. That gun may be a bit outdated in looks, compared to all the fancy new DAs on the market, but it's still basically the same old revolver on the inside. This may be the day and age of the semi-auto pistol, but I'll never live to see the day when revolvers will be considered obsolete, even those great old classics like the Victory.

No, semi autos may be dominating the marketplace but the revolver is still the king of the hill!
