Single action revolvers
Single action revolvers
Excuse me if this has been discussed to death (new to the forum). But do others feel the need to buy single action revolvers to go with their Henry rifles? I have a Ruger Vaquero 45lc to go with its counterpart ,and a 357 Ruger Blackhawk to go with my 357 Henry. Maybe I just watch to many Westerns.

Re: Single action revolvers
I had to get a 357 Blackhawk to go with my 357 BBB. Didn't seem right carrying my Beretta when shooting the Henry. Hopefully will have my Mernickle holster in a couple more weeks, will post photos when I get it.

Re: Single action revolvers
All part of the fun. Love it, myself.
I always remind myself, though, that this tradition we observe with lever guns and single action revolvers is partly based on fact, yes, but a lot of it originates with our upbringing via the TV and the movies and those, in turn, were mostly based on the fictitious, sensationalized myths of the gunslinger we inherited from dime novels of the period.
Fact is, there were double action revolvers in the Old West and a lot of famous out laws and lawmen, alike, carried them. Wasn't all just Winchesters on the rifles, either. Historical accounts also showed that more men were gunned down by shotguns (more affordable than Colts or Winchesters) than by rifles or revolvers and gunfights were anything but the staged duels we saw on TV. And when some say putting a scope on a lever gun is heresy, just remember that scopes were used as far back as the Civil War. Hardly some new-fangled invention. Lastly, the Wild West didn't just tame up and go to sleep in the year 1900, as some may think. A lot of that period rolled on past the turn of the century into the era of 1911s, bolt action rifles and hammerless pump shotguns. Think the Nome gold rush, the Mexican Revolution with Pancho Villa and more.
Oh, yeah, it was fascinating time. Time to grab the lever gun and Colt and do some shooting.

It just makes sense on so many levels to be able to share ammo between your rifle and sidearm..........
