Glad I found this thread. After being raised in the pistol world on Sig-Sauers, with their de-cocker, no safeties, DA/SA manual of arms, I resisted 1911s forever. Had myself convinced I'd never master the thumb safety in a high stress situation (I carry quite a bit). Then a lifelong friend of mine (the same one who turned my onto Henrys) started crowing about his Springfield 1911.
Initially took the plunge with a Sig 1911 Nightmare Carry, then really jumped in the deep end with a good deal on an Ed Brown Special Forces Carry. Sold the Sig (and a bunch of other Sigs, for that matter) and now have a Dan Wesson V-Bob (9mm) to go along with the EB. It's truly an addictive gun category to dabble in. So much customization, so much great gun-building going on in this segment.

Hey Esquared, that is just about perfection right there, and love that they're 9mm.
I don't think Georg Luger, who was Austrian could have dreamed that 100 years later his cartridge would still be the top of the town.

From Wikipedia,
"In 2013 a chart of popular calibers that was released by the website Luckygunner.com showed 9mm x 19mm Parabellum as having 21.4% of the entire cartridge market followed by the .223 Rem at 10.2% (with 5.56mm included this is 15.7%). The next most popular caliber was .45ACP.[19]"

Those two are as good as it gets in their respective 1911 categories. Truly beautiful examples of 1911 art. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you both. The EB SF Carry (with the "Longmire" grips) is actually a .45, but it's so smooth that you'd never guess it. And the V-Bob is a dream as well. As much as I could have been sucked into the 1911 undertow, I'm happy enough with those two for quite a while, I think. I mean, where does one go from there? Hard to go "up" the food-chain (and debateable) without spending thousands, and I believe the Ed Brown is about at the peak of the diminishing returns curve when it comes to what you can spend on a 1911 for what you get.
Besides, now that the 1911 itch has been scratched, I can focus on the Henry world for a while!
