S&W Chief

Post by Bugs » Sun Oct 01, 2017 4:54 pm

Recently picked up a Model 60 no dash with pinned barrel, box and papers. Even had the original S&W VOC paper. Absolutely mint Chief's Special. Took her apart and cleaned & lubed the internals. Lots of dried grease and oil but zero corrosion anywhere. Gun appears to have never been shot outside of S&W factory testing. The price was right, I practically stole this gun. Enjoy the pics...

This what she looked like inside. Pretty clean for a half century old gun. The reddish brown stuff inside the frame is just dried up old grease/oil and with a little soaking cleaned right off.

Bugs,

What an excellent acquisition!! Max Congrats! :D
The revolver looks almost new as you said. And if barely shot, it sure has a lot of life left in it.
Will really look forward to your Range Report.

And your photos were all very good....the suspense mounted as the opening and unwrapping got closer to the prize! I wasn't disappointed at all. ;)

So you did some "great shooting" today with that camera. Enjoyed it a lot, and thanks for the post!

nice, very nice indeed .... I owned one of them back in the late 60's .... believe it or not, one of them firing hot loads can take out a young bull elk ;)

Doesn't get more classic in a DA revolver than that. I would LOVE to find a vintage one like that. What a find! Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed the post and the great pics.

That is a beauty! Hope you didn’t have any parts left over when you put it back together. :)
