Have a 45 colt Uberti El Patron 5 1/2 inch barrell. It has a nice trigger on it and no complaints so far. Like you, I tend to favor the single actions more, but have a double action 38 also. Nice revolvers sir.

Update:

With a near record warm day on Friday this week in the upper 40s, we headed to our local range with the new 617 and the new Uberti, hoping to finally see how they shoot and compared. I guess everyone else in the area decided to get out and shoot, too, what with the nice weather. In fact, the range was the most crowded we've see\n all year. There was one bench left, but we passed, since there were shooters on both sides shooting ported ARs. Nothing against ARs - each to their own - but not much fun to get hammered when guys on both sides were shooting ported guns at a fast and furious pace. In fact, almost all the shooters we saw were shooting AR type guns. I actually felt a little out of place packing little 22 revolvers.

Oh, well, will try again later. Will ;probably have some more guns to add to the mix by then, anyway.

For those not familiar with 617s, the 617 is notorious for light strikes, right out of the box, some guns being so bad they can't make it through an entire cylinder of 10 shots without a significant number of failure to ignite rounds. This one and the one I used to have both had to be returned to Smith to be fixed. Got this one back and test fired it in the backyard and the gun seems fixed, now. (It better be, because 617s are very expensive, right at $900 these days.)

Smith and Wesson's extended firing pin cured most of my light strike issues. I'd not experienced any until about 200k through the gun (100k from the previous owner). I bought a replacement standard 617 fp and had the same issue. I bought an extended, and the issue cleared up.

The extended isn't longer than the standard. The groove cut in the extended allows it to travel further than the standard. My original FP was a couple of thousands shorter than the normal factory replacement. It was just plum wore out.
