Smith and Wesson 610
Smith and Wesson 610
I was finally able to get this new pistol out today that I purchased a while back. I wish I had more time to shoot pistols as I know there is things I do that I shouldnt. Im sure my accuracy would be alot better if I spent more time shooting pistols. I can say I like this 610 and using moon clips doesnt bother me at all especially with the RIMZ moon clips which are super easy to use not requiring any kind of tool. The recoil with the 610 is very easy to get along with and I didnt find much difference in the 40 vs the 10mm. I bought some 10mm from 2A warehouse they sell Capitol Reman and it shoots pretty good. Price isnt terrible and I need some 10mm cases anyway. It also comes loose in a ammo box which is smaller and kinda cool. Gun was shooting low to begin with as I switched back and forth between 40 and 10mm. I found a couple loads that it did like but Im gonna do some more testing when I have a chance. Here is 3 pics of todays results.
This is a 40 load I shot and I know I could do better. All these are shot at about 15 yards
This last one along with the one above are 10 mm loads

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Re: Smith and Wesson 610
Good for you, Al. I've shot the 10 in a couple of 1911s and really liked it. Been wondering how it would do in a wheel gun. Thanks for the report.

Al, I'd say you did pretty well with that 610. That's a nice gun to have in the collection. I'm glad to hear it was pretty similar between the .40 and 10mm cartridges.
I hope to see more of your shooting and the gun. Did you get a holser and if so, what are you using?

No holster yet Dave. I think if I was to get one it would be a shoulder holster otherwise with the weight of this Smith my pants would be down around my knees. Thanks for the compliment and I will post more targets in the future as I work on loads for it. Its a real comfortable gun to shoot and feels really good in my hand.daytime dave wrote: ↑Tue Aug 08, 2023 12:44 pmAl, I'd say you did pretty well with that 610. Re: Smith and Wesson 610
Always been intrigued by the 610, or any 10mm revolver but I think the 610 is the only 10mm revolver made, isnt it? I have like the cartridge for many years. I bet it did thump in that gun. Whats is the barrel length? If I bought a 10mm revolver I would definitely want a barrel length longer than 5" to get that bullet really moving. My 1911 has a 5" tube, I can just imagine what a longer barrel could do. Fun.

Re: Smith and Wesson 610
Good review. I have two 1911s in 10mm and I enjoy them. A revolver is certainly something to consider and the bonus of being able to use 40 cal as well is appealing.
