Ruger MkIV Target model on layaway

Post by Hatchdog » Mon Mar 22, 2021 11:09 am

My neighbor wants to put a short range at his place (a violation of our covenants but I won’t say anything :D ). He’s thinking about limiting it to rimfire to keep the noise down. Of course in the last couple of years I have sold/traded my rimfire handguns so I find myself with nothing to shoot at his place. I’ve been scouring our local trader site to trade or buy a rimfire handgun. Due to the great conversions on this site lately about the Ruger Marks I decided to go that direction. I didn’t want to fight the assemble difficulties with the Mk III I decided to get a IV. Saw a few on the local site around $500 for used and thought that must be high. Went to my LGS yesterday to see what they had and found a nice selections of III’s and IV’s. I selected a IV target model with the 5.5” barrel in blue. Price was $399.99 with around $32 in tax. Put it on layaway and will bring it home in a month or two. Love that layaway feature.

Sounds like some summertime fun coming your way! Does anyone else shoot around your place as a test of the rules?

I have the same pistol in stainless steel. I really like mine and hope you like yours. Take down and cleaning is a breeze. Mine was recalled a couple years ago to have a new safety installed. Ruger had it about a week but I have never had a problem with it.

Forty,

until this last years shortages happened I would hear shooting all around my place all the time. Not sure if it is from folks living in my community or the surrounding area but I suspect I have a couple of neighbors who shoot on their property. We’re a community of 38 10 acre parcels which are about 70% inhabited. My neighbor has a nice shallow ravine that he plans to put the target stand in the bottom of and shoot in a downward angle into soft soil. The bank on the far side is probably 30 ft higher than the target. His wife is the HOA president who also is a shooter. :D

Al.

Dang weather broke and I have assigned myself way too many outdoor projects to get to the reloading bench just yet. But, giving that 2400 is high on my list of tasks. I’ll be getting to it very soon. :D

Those are really nice pistols. I used to have a couple of them, the bull barrel 5" and a longer barreled one.
The bull barrel was a tack driver. I need to get another one.

Paid off my Ruger yesterday and completed the paperwork which will start my 10 day waiting period. Upon re-reading my comments above I see I neglected to mention that my new Ruger is the 22/45 target model. Can’t wait to bring it home and start burning up my 22 stash.

It was sad to walk away from it, this is my first handgun purchase since the FBI no longer provides instant background checks for people with a carry license. As Dillon sang, “The times they are a’changin”.
