Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Re: The 1911 Slippery Slope
As NCG says, for target shooting, a 1911 is really a winner. They are just a joy to shoot. Especially with 45. Nothing wrong with 9mm, .38 super, or any other caliber they come in, but there is just something about 45.

Re: The 1911 Slippery Slope
Out shooting with a friend of mine today and he is messing with his Glock and some sort of a triangle red dot sight and cant get it to shoot for sheet - I shove a mag into my Colt 1991 A1 and put six into a ragged group at 20 yards with one flyer. I give him a mag and the 1991 and he takes out the red of the center of a paper target at the same range - yet still wants to mess with his Glock and this High Rise sight that I would NEVER consider putting on a gun. Why would anyone want to continue to mess with some silly electronic sight when HE himself shot a gun with 'open irons' better than his own?

Re: The 1911 Slippery Slope
My Glock 23C shoots everything I feed it and with a $10 trigger bar for a 3.5 lbs trigger it shoot almost as good as a target 1911 . This is my CCW everyday gun . These 2 targets are not cherry pick targets . They are 2 test fire target after new night sights and recoil spring and barrel to shoot lead for cheap practice were installed .

There is a member at our range who gets ribbed a lot because he claims “Glocks are just not accurate.” Every time he has said that, I have handed my 100% stock Glock 23 to the two best shooters at the range, whereupon they promptly shot ragged hole groups with it.Mistered wrote:Out shooting with a friend of mine today and he is messing with his Glock and some sort of a triangle red dot sight and cant get it to shoot for sheet - I shove a mag into my Colt 1991 A1 and put six into a ragged group at 20 yards with one flyer. Re: The 1911 Slippery Slope
I have a 1911 ... or two. The do have their uses.
But I have a glock or three as well. Since I taught firearms in a Glock department, was a Glock armorer, and shot in the Glock series (GSSF) when it would come around our area, I found myself adding models and calibers. My accountant told me I could write off a certain number of guns on my taxes each year as a professional expense. Oh yeah. (oh... and ammo, cleaning gear, magazines, match fees...)
I wore them out. The Glocks are accurate, but not in the same class as my competition 1911.
It shoots better than I ever could.

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

Re: The 1911 Slippery Slope
Oh, I know Glocks are accurate - its just that he shot my 1911 with open irons the first time better than his Glock - I am thinking he might want to re-assess his sight choices. I am not necessarily a fan of all these Hi - Tech sights systems.I have handed my 100% stock Glock 23 to the two best shooters at the range, whereupon they promptly shot ragged hole groups with it.

Re: The 1911 Slippery Slope
I usually carry a Glock 36. When it comes down to having everything going for me as far as accuracy, I shoot my prewar Colt National Match .45.

Re: The 1911 Slippery Slope
Im happy there is alot of Glock lovers out there and yes I know they run no matter what. I have also owned one. One and only one. They just dont fit my hand and I cannot shoot them worth a darn. They work for some people but not me. Al
