Savage pump 22

Post by Cj7 » Fri May 29, 2020 10:04 pm

savage model 1914 octagon barrel pump 22
Does or has anyone seen any parts to fixer upper and old beater.
I acquired this sad lil guy from an old man my son did some work for.
Poor thing was rusty n action stuck.
The magazine tube is beyond repair and rear sight is broke off.
I could prolly make both but wont match. I cleaned it all up honed and polished the action and guts. It does shoot pretty good concidering the rear sight, my boy was shootin cans at 20 yds( single shot style)
I looked at the traveling gun shows for parts. its not worth much anyway so......
If anyone knows or has any info on parts i would be interested

I have been trying to get pics to send, my kids dont know to resize them either.
So sorry to tease like that and wont put ourselves in that position again.
I picked up an old 22 rifle with a brass tube magazine i can cut down and attach
My knob to.
The sight will have to be custom made by me to end the search.
Also i am trying a new way to brown/ blue to get it uniform looking after i cleaned the deep rust off the outside of the barrel.
It says to grease anything not to be browned. Using pool chlorine in a bowl to quick rust inside a closed carboard box to contain the fumes.
Every few days remove clean and repeat to get desired finish.
So im giving it a shot to see. Cant get much worse that it was before the bones brushes and scotchbright pads
I will keep posting results possibly with pics!!

below is a link to a free picture processing program that is very simple to use .... for me to use it, it has to be simple .... we've been using it for many years .... should you choose to download it, I'd recommend the 64-bit one .... if there is anything you should need help with, I'd be happy to walk you through it by phone
