Quite some history around that rifle! The stats identifying the game taken by TR during the "1909-10 Smithsonian–Roosevelt African Expedition," and the resources needed to accomplish the hunting goals, comprise an astonishing record. The Winchester 405 rifle, plus a double-barreled shotgun, and an Army Springfield, were the primary tools used throughout the expedition. "Big Medicine" is an apt description of the 405.
